Wyman Ellsworth Holland, age 85 of Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Ada, Minnesota passed away peacefully on December 27, 2016 following a Christmas surrounded by family.
Wyman was born on March 9, 1931 in Mayville, North Dakota, where he grew up and graduated from high school before attending Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and serving in the United States Army. Wyman played trumpet in the 89th Army Band.
He graduated from Concordia College in 1955. He met his wife, Helen Schiefer, while attending Concordia and they were married in Kenmare, North Dakota on July 22, 1956. Wyman taught instrumental and vocal music in Finley, North Dakota and Lisbon, North Dakota public school systems. Following this he taught instrumental music in Ada, Minnesota. He retired in 1993 after teaching for 38 years.
Wyman was a member of The American Federation of Musicians, The National Education Association, Music Educators National Council, The American Legion, and Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, Minnesota.
He enjoyed many hobbies, especially fishing, hunting, golf, and tennis. He also enjoyed trips to Arizona with Helen during winter months. Most of all Wyman loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and cherished time spent with his wife, Helen. He was preceded in death by parents Walter and Elizabeth (Seim) Holland, sister Elnor (Holland) Hoople, and brother-in-law Allyn Hoople.
He is survived by his wife Helen; children Paul (Jane) Holland, John (Emilie) Holland, David (Tracy) Holland, Mary (Dan) Hamann; grandchildren Connor, Caylie, Tatum, Griffin, Carlyn, Kristin, and Laura (Toby) Anheluk; and great-granddaughter Holland Anheluk.
Funeral: 10:00AM Friday, December 30, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: On Friday for one hour before the funeral at the church.
Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
