William "Bill" Oshkinowe Sr., age 83, of Waubun, MN, passed away on February 20, 2026, at Essentia Health–St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN.

William Gene Oshkinowe was born on July 25, 1942, in White Earth, MN, to George and Jennie (King) Oshkinowe. He was one of ten children. The family made their home near White Earth Lake on property they affectionately called "Oshkinowe Lake." Bill attended the Maple Grove schoolhouse for several years before entering the workforce.

Bill began his working years in International Falls, MN, where he farmed and found enjoyment in the wood-cutting industry. He later went on to work for Wheeler Consolidated Inc., where he dedicated over 35 years of service before retiring in 1996.

Throughout his life, Bill lived for a time in the Twin Cities before returning to northern Minnesota in the early 1980s. He was blessed with four children: Paula, Billee, William II, and Cory. Family was important to Bill, and he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Bill was proud to hold a single-engine private pilot's certificate. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, and spending time outdoors. A talented mechanic, he took pride in fixing vehicles and solving problems. Despite his age, Bill was comfortable with technology and enjoyed learning new skills. He was also proud to have traveled to all 48 contiguous United States. Bill was very practical and had great sense of humor and loved making his family laugh.

Bill is survived by his children: Paula (Abdullah) Al-Mohammedawi, Billee (Michael) Wenschlag, and William (Karen) Oshkinowe II; 12 grandchildren: Ashley, Rachel, Bryce, Megan, Matthew, Olivia, Selena, Billy, Xavier, Nevaeh, Austin, and Allen;11 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Armando Delacruz; and many beloved family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cory Lee Jackson; grandsons, David Scott Wenschlag and William Oshkinowe III; siblings, Francis, Fern, Jenny Mae, Florence, Margaret, Lawrence, Ervin, George, and Maurice; and many extended family.

An all-night wake will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 starting at 5:00pm, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30pm, at the White Earth Community Center in White Earth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 1:00pm, with visitation starting at 12:00pm, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth.
