William Morales, Jr., age 60, of Twin Valley, MN, died Saturday, December 24, 2016, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
William was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Virgenmina Kilgore and William Morales on October 20, 1956. He was raised in New York by his grandmother until he was 13 years old and they moved to Guanica, Puerto Rico. Will was raised with his cousin, Milagro and brother, Robert Ortiz. He married Carmen Lluch and together they have a daughter, Jeanette.
At the young age of 18, Will joined the US Army. In 1979, while in Ft. Jackson, SC, for training he met his wife to be, Lorelei Roy. They were united in marriage on December 4, 1982. The couple was blessed with two sons, William Morales III and Daniel Morales. After a distinguished career of 16 years in the Army, Will and his family relocated to Twin Valley.
Willie worked at the Shooting Star Casino, Crystal Sugar in Hillsboro, ND, and ALCO in Mahnomen. He also worked at Sam's Club in Grand Forks and managed the ALCO store in Grafton. Willie was elated when Shopko opened in Mahnomen and he became the Assistant Manager and could be home every night with no more long drives.
Will loved Minnesota and the great outdoors. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, working on computers and fixing them for friends. He loved when he was able to go to Puerto Rico to visit family especially his daughter and grandchildren and show his Minnesota family the sights and history.
Willie was a hard worker and truly loved being with family. Here in Minnesota, he had another family who loved him very much. His friends were plentiful and together they enjoyed many good laughs and raising cain. Will was a singer and would often hear a song he liked and just start singing any time. One of his most requested songs to sing at karaoke was "LaBamba". Will was a proud member of the Ogichida Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Lorelei; sons, William III ( Cindy) and Daniel, both of Fargo, ND; daughter, Jeanette Morales, Puerto Rico; grandchildren: Ina Marie, Cheito, Jan, Tania and Molly; great-grandchild, Yadiel; two other great-grandsons; his Minnesota Family: Donald (Marita) Roy, Michael Roy, Beth (David) Burnette, Danette McCradie, Rebecca McCradie; sisters: Lillian (Nelson) Ivette (Alberto) and Diane (Pedro); brothers: Gilbert Torres, Bruno Ortiz and Harry Morales; his step-father, William Santiago; mother, Ardyce McCradie and his grandmother, Opal Londo. He is also survived by a large extended family. Will was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Junior and Robert and many aunts, uncles and cousins both in Minnesota and Puerto Rico.
