William "Billy" Kelly Johnson, age 22, of Winger, Minnesota died Monday, April 26, 2010 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Erskine, Minnesota.
Billy was born April 28, 1987 in Fosston, Minnesota, the son of Rebecca (Larson) and Kelly Johnson. He grew up in Winger and was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church. In 2005, Billy graduated from Win-E-Mac High School. After graduation, Billy worked a short time for a group home and has since been employed by New Flyer of America Inc. in Crookston, Minnesota.
When Billy wasn't working, he enjoyed playing video games, listening to music and just hanging out with his buddies. Billy also had a special bond with his little sister, Michelle; they would often spend time together fishing, watching movies or taking in a Twins or Vikings game. Billy was a quiet individual and chose to express himself with the artwork of tattoos and body piercing. He had several of each and planned to add to his collection.
Billy is survived by his parents, Rebecca Johnson and Kelly Johnson, both of Winger; siblings: Andy Johnson, Angie (Danny) Brtek and Michelle Johnson, all of Winger; nieces and nephews: Tyler, Alex, Justus and Tony Brtek, all of Bemidji, Minnesota; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Helen London of Fosston, Minnesota; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his special dog, Samuel.
Billy was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Johnson and his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Josie Johnson.
Funeral Services were held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger. Pastor Nathan Baker-Trinity was the officiant with Carol Stordahl as organist and Linda Lende providing special music. Pallbearers were Gilbert Hernandez, Brent Pulskamp, John Hintz, Jason Salveson, Andrew Renna, Micah Hall, Mark Bonagofsky, Allan Dahl and Nathan Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Billy's co-workers at New Flyer of America Inc. Visitation was held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm also at the church.
Interment was at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Winger.
