William "Bill" Jackson, age 70, of White Earth, MN, died on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

William "Bill" Jackson was born on November 9, 1952, in White Earth, to Peter and Charlotte (Bryan) Jackson. He attended school in White Earth before transferring to Waubun High School in seventh grade. After graduating with the Class of 1971, Bill furthered his education at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Sante Fe, NM, receiving an associate degree. He then moved to Berkeley, CA, in 1980, continuing his art studies and receiving an additional associate degree. In 2003, Bill took a position with White Earth Congregate Housing in security. After a career of 17 years, Bill retired in 2021.

Having a natural gift for art and passion for his heritage, Bill shared his talents with his community and family. One of his most impressive projects was painting the White Earth School. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his garden, mowing his lawn, and tinkering with cars. Despite being soft-spoken, Bill's actions spoke loudly as he was always kind and generous with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Time spent with family and friends was always cherished, especially time spent with family on Strawberry Lake. One of Bill's proudest accomplishments was his sobriety, a journey he went on for over 28 years, and encouraged others to do the same.

Bill is survived by his brothers, Jeffery Jackson and Wes Jackson; sister, Sharon (Duane) Columbus; sisters-in-law, Grace Jackson and Kathy Pemberton; special cousin, Walter Pettiford; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Charlotte Jackson; brothers: Jeremiah "Todd" Pemberton, Peter "Sandyman" Jackson, Donovan "Toynch" Jackson, Dennis "Doops" Jackson, and Fabian Jackson; sister, Darlene Jackson; nieces: Elizabeth Flores, Samantha, Natasha and Tiffany Jackson and Dahlia Libby; and nephews: Peter Jackson III, Todd Pemberton, Craig Pemberton, and Craig Jackson, Jr.; Special cousins, James McDougall and Edward Levy.

Funeral Services will be held at the White Earth Community Center on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10:00 am.  Visitation will begin Thursday, April 13 ^th at 4:00 pm with a ceremony at 6:00 pm and continue until the funeral on Friday.  Burial will be held in St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery, White Earth, MN, in the Spring.
