William "Chill" Giard, age 25, of Naytahwaush, MN, died unexpectedly, Saturday, December 16, 2017.
William Christian Giard, son of Thomas and Loretta (Bush) Giard, was born November 23, 1992, in Detroit Lakes, MN. He grew up in Naytahwaush and attended Mahnomen School. Following high school, Chill entered the workforce as a roofer. Together with Kristine Vanderplaats, he was blessed with three children: Jaelynn, Kya, and Emmaleah.
Chill was known to be feisty, energetic and quick witted. He started boxing at an early age and shortly thereafter became a star boxer. Chill had a great sense of humor that made everyone around him smile. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends, especially his girls. Chill had a special relationship with his uncles Jim Giard and Joe Bush Jr. He will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
William is survived by his mother, Loretta "Pebbs" Giard of Frazee, MN; his children: Jaelynn Mae, Kya Jean and Emmaleah Skye; brothers: Thomas "Top" Giard Jr. of New London, OH, and Sonny Porter of Naytahwaush; sisters: Mavis, Iris, Mariah Giard and Claire (Clifford Sargent) Giard, all of Naytahwaush; grandparents: Joe (Rose) Bush Sr. of Mahnomen and Mavis Bush of Naytahwaush; 15 nieces and nephews; special cousins: Shannon Londo, Billy Johnson and Austin Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Giard Sr.; brother, Jesse Giard; grandparents, William and Helena Giard; niece, Jasmine Giard, and nephew, Conrad Smith, Jr.; aunt, Christine Cumings; brother-in-law, Wallie Lang.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex and continue until the time of the Funeral at 11:00 am on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex in Naytahwaush, MN. Burial will be in the Free Gospel Cemetery, Naytahwaush, MN.
