In August of 2008, Will retired and they spent the next year on the road in their RV enjoying time together spending the winters in Arizona and Nevada and the summer in Minnesota. In 2009, Barb and Will purchased a home in Las Vegas and once again returned to the Waubun area as spring turned to summer in 2010. It was here in this familiar place that Will began his new journey. At the age of 67, Will died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Will was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, camping and taking in the beauty of nature. He could often be found working in the woods, where he always loved to be. He also enjoyed wood working.
