Obituary

Wilfred "Willy" Stalboerger, age 81, of Waubun, MN, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.

Wilfred was born February 15, 1930 in Mahnomen, MN, the son of John and Martha (Winter) Stalboerger Sr. He grew up on the family farm and attended school at Waubun Public School. Upon the completion of his schooling, Willy continued to help on the farm and also worked for area farmers. In February of 1952, Willy entered the United States Army. He served during the Korean War and transferred into the reserves. Following an honorable discharge, Willy returned to Waubun, where he farmed with his dad. When his dad retired and sold the farm, Willy remained active in the farming industry by working for area farmers. He lived his entire life in the Waubun area and was currently residing at the Evergreen Apartments in Waubun.

Willy was a hard working
individual, always keeping busy. In addition to his employment as a farm laborer, he would also cut trees and sell them as firewood. His personality was one of a sweet, caring individual who would do anything for anyone and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Willy was a long time member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Waubun Ogema VFW Post #9880.

Wilfred is survived by two sisters, Doris Underdahl of Richfield, MN, and Rose (Delmar) Benesh of Ada, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: John Jr., Donald and Ervin.

A Memorial Service was held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun, MN, with a time of gathering one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Father Dwight Hoeberechts OMI was the officiant with Lori Handyside as the organist. The urn bearers were Steve and Theresa Walkowiak and the honorary urn bearers were Willy's nieces and nephews.
