Wesley John Magnuson, 94, Ada, MN, died on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the Benedictine Care Community, Ada.

Wes was born on June 14, 1922, to Oscar and Ellen (Frantzick) Magnuson in Farwell, MN. He attended school in Farwell, and the University of Minnesota Morris Ag School, graduating in 1942.

In October of 1944, Wesley was united in marriage to Alene Estenson at Wendell, MN. He worked several jobs: owned a Massey-Harris/Oliver Implement, Gas Stations, did Custom Farming, and as a backhoe operator on the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Wes established the OK Tire Store in Ada, which he owned and operated from 1959 until he retired. Alene died on November 24, 1973. He remarried in October of 1974, to Erna McCarthy at Alexandria, MN. She died March 19, 2010.

Wes and Erna did voluntary work at Bible Camps for seven winters as a carpenter in the Southern States. He enjoyed fishing year around, hunting pheasants and working with dogs, especially his Labrador, Sady. He rode snowmobiles with his family and friends. He was an excellent singer and sang for weddings, anniversaries and the Mesa Men's Choir. Wes enjoyed making all kinds of things, especially his wood creations.

Wes is survived by two daughters: Marsha (Bob) Johnson and Bonnie Jensen, both of Ada, MN; Erna's children: Diane Hendricks, CO, and JoAnn (Jim) Hartman, Alexandria, MN; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Vernon Fischer, Graceville, MN, and sister-in-law, Ruth Zimmerman, Chokio, MN; and cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded death by his parents, wives: Alene and Erna, and Erna's granddaughter, Lisa Hendricks, brothers and sisters: Wallace, Stanley, and Harriet Nelson.

Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Grace Lutheran Church.

Funeral: Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 11 AM at the Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
