Welden Norman Brohaugh, 98, passed away peacefully August 27, 2019, at Halstad Living Center in Halstad MN.

He was the third of four children to be born to Joseph and Lettie Brohaugh on June 25, 1921, in Detroit Lakes MN. 'Weldy' as he was called by many, lived just a few years in Detroit Lakes and a few more in Fertile, MN, until the family moved to Shelly, MN, to begin the life of farming in 1930. He graduated from Halstad High School in 1940 where he would meet and later marry, Verna (Spittler). They married on June 21, t 1941 and had one child Betty Faye.

In 1945, he and his brother Hubert bought the farm in Shelly, MN, where he would continue to farm with his brother until 1980 and then later with his nephew Keith. Welden retired from farming in 1991 and moved to Fargo with his wife in 1994 where he would continue with his passion for playing cards. Getting together with friends to play cribbage, pinochle or any other game was a nightly thing (until he started losing). This would continue throughout the winters that they would spend in Arizona. During his farming years Weldy and his brother amassed a collection of 54 stationery engines and after retirement he was very proud of his extensive collection of Allis Chalmers model tractors.

Welden was baptized into Christ in 1921 and later confirmed his faith on November 3, 1935, by Pastor Edward Stenson at Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a long standing member of the church and was on the council as well as the treasurer for many years.
