Wayne M. Kjos, age 67, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Wayne Marshal Kjos was born on May 29, 1956 in Moorhead, MN, to Waldo and Darlene (Erickson Schultz) Kjos. Wayne grew up on the family farm outside of Hitterdal and attended Ulen-Hitterdal High School, graduating with the class of 1974. After trying his hand at various jobs, Wayne found his calling with Crop Production Services in Mapleton, ND. On June 25th, 1994, Wayne married the love of his life, Melanie Anderson, and the couple were blessed with two beautiful children, Beau and Hailey. The Kjos family made their home in Ulen.

Wayne had a passion for the outdoors and loved nothing more than embarking on hunting and fishing trips with his family. He took great pride in maintaining his lawn, ensuring that the flowers bloomed vibrantly and the grass stayed neatly trimmed. Whether he was cruising around on his 4-wheeler, golf cart, or ranger, Wayne often had his faithful furry companion, Teddy, by his side, looking for deer and pheasants. He also enjoyed watching the birds that frequented his yard. Time spent with family was a joy for Wayne, and he had a special bond with his nieces. With his simple yet kind-hearted nature, Wayne made a lasting impact on those around him. He will be deeply missed, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Melanie; children, Beau and Hailey Kjos; step-father, Gordy Arntson; siblings: Todd (Arlene) Kjos of Hitterdal; Shirley (Ron) Gwin of Mapleton, ND; Kristi (Vernon) Prestegord of Twin Valley, MN; Mike (Jenny) Kjos of Hitterdal, MN; LuAnn (Ole) Larson of Lake Park, MN; and Lynnette (Ross) Wagner of Brainerd, MN; sister-in-law, Lisa (Duane) Nokelby and their two children, Amanda (Cody) Matzke – Bria and Brynn, and Mike (Abby) Nokelby – Chloe and Nora. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Darlene; and brother, Jim.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00pm, visitation will be one hour prior, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN.
