Wayne E. Erickson, 66, of Perley, MN passed away early morning Tuesday, October 13 ^th surrounded by family while in the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  He fought an almost 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Wayne Erick Erickson was born August 27, 1954 in Ada, MN, the son of Erick and Hannah (Sorenson) Erickson.  He attended school in Ada, MN and graduated in 1972.  He then attended Detroit Lakes Technical College for small engine mechanics.  Wayne married Sandy Hekman on June 28, 1975 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, MN.  They made their home in Perley and were blessed with 3 children.

Wayne started his working career at the Escape Hatch in Moorhead, MN, later working at Bill's Marine and eventually opening his own drywall/maintenance business.  Wayne was maintenance director at the Halstad Living Center for 15 years retiring on April 1, 2016.  Wayne was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting.  He loved to listen to blues music and also enjoyed gardening.  His main enjoyment in life was spending time with his grandchildren and loved it when they came to visit him.  Wayne was thoughtful, kind and always willing to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, 3 children, Christine (Steve) Gibson of Lakota, ND, Vincent (Shalona) of Vine Grove, KY and Cory of Moorhead, MN; 5 grandchildren Hunter Gibson, Zachary Gibson, Paisley Gibson, Madison Erickson, and Elaina Erickson; mother, Hannah Werpy, sister, Karen (Rick) Wagner and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his dad, Erick, sister, Diane Borgen and nephew Scott Borgen and many aunts and uncles.

Memorial Service: A private immediate family only service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 19, 2020 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Visitation: A walk through public visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM, Monday, October 19, 2020 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN, followed by a private immediate family only visitation from 2:00-3:00 PM.

All are welcome to attend the public walk through visitation, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All must wear a mask to attend.
