Wayne Alexander, age 67, of Princeton, MN died Friday, February, 3, 2012 in Princeton.
Wayne Lee Alexander, son of Harvey and Viola (Nickaboine) Alexander, was born on May 31, 1944 in White Earth, MN. He grew up in Waubun and attended school there. As young man, Wayne loved to play sports and was active with both football and basketball. In 1965, he was united in marriage to Margaret Rogers. Together they raised three daughters: Stacey, Brenda and Patrice. They later divorced and Wayne moved to Minneapolis, MN, and began working for the Hennepin County Highway Department.
On June 12, 1976 Wayne married Darlene Simming and two additional children, Rick and Christine, joined the family. After nearly 40 years of loyal service, Wayne retired from the Highway Department in 2006. After which, Darlene and Wayne moved to Princeton to make their home.
Wayne also known as "Tubby" loved to laugh and tease with family and friends. He was an animal-lover and took great care of his pets. He also enjoyed watching and listening to sporting events, especially football games.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Darlene of Princeton; four daughters: Stacey (Jay) Agnew of Mahnomen, MN, Brenda Merill of East Grand Forks, MN, Patrice (Ted Millage) Neumann of Waubun, MN, and Christine (Shawn) Bjerkebek of Princeton; one son, Rick (Shelly) Simming of Big Lake, MN; grandchildren: Jesse and Cory Simming, Trent and Madison Bjerkebek, Nathan and Nicholas Millage and Tyler Neumann, and Chaz, Ashley, Shawn, and Amber Merill; three sisters: Barbara Bedeau of Minneapolis, Muriel (Raul) Alvarez of Waubun and Esther Jacobson of White Earth; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Warren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, MN.
Family gathering will begin one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Private Services will also be held in Priceton.
