Warren Seykora, age 65, of both Ulen, MN, and Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, due to injuries he sustained in a farming accident near Lisbon, ND.
Warren Jay Seykora was born October 19, 1949, the son of Clarence and Lillian (Molacek) Seykora in Fargo, ND. He was raised in the Flom, MN, area and attended school in Ulen. Following his high school graduation in 1967, Warren entered the United States Air National Guard. He also began working hand in hand with his parents on their dairy and grain farm. On June 1, 1974, Warren was united in marriage to Sharon Matter. The couple made their home on the family farm and were blessed with five children. In 1998, Warren sold the dairy cattle but continued farming until early in 2003, at which time he rented out the land. Although retired, he continued to help area farmers and friends with field work that needed to be done. He was always busy and was the first to help others around him. He also worked for a time at the Flom Co-Op and at Triangle Ag in Ulen. He loved helping his son, Aaron work around the yard.
Warren's heart was at home on the farm near Flom, but for the past several years he also spent much of his time at their home in Fargo to be closer to his family. Warren was incredibly active with numerous area boards and committees. He was especially dedicated to the Wild Rice Watershed Board and the Upper Red Lake Basin Board. He served on the Church Council at St. William Catholic Church in Twin Valley and the Community Co-op Board. Warren was currently a member of the Walworth Township Board as well. In addition to his committee work, Warren was an avid fisherman. He loved going to Lake of the Woods, especially for their 40th wedding celebration that was held there last year, but would fish any little pond where he had company. He also enjoyed watching western movies, planting gardens and doing yardwork. He was often found tinkering on machinery…fixing what he had broken in the days work. Warren truly was the backbone of his family. He cherished his wife, children, and each of his precious grandchildren. He especially loved their family gatherings, playing cards, and simply sharing laughter together. His contagious smile and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by so many.
Warren is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon of Fargo, ND; his children, Anne (Jeffrey) Timmerman of West Point, NE, Amy (John) Ommen of Fargo, ND, Jami (Justin) Kessler of Summerville, SC, Aaron (Fiancé, Melissa Blawat) Seykora of Lisbon, ND, Jenae Seykora of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren: Nathaniel, Taylor, and Jordan Timmerman, Katelyn and Ryan Ommen, and Madison Kessler; his father and mother-in-law, Jerome A. and Mary C. Matter of Rochert, MN; sisters-in-law: Sandy Seykora of Mahnomen, MN, Vicki (Orrin) Okeson of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Connie (David) Motteberg of Gary, MN; brothers-in-law, Maurice (Diane) Bjorgan of Savage, MN, and Jerry (Nancy) Matter of Rochert, MN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lyle, a sister, Helene, and an infant grandchild.
