Walter Miller, 87, of Twin Valley, MN, formerly of Borup, MN, died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at Mahnomen Health Center-Hospital.
Walter was born March 9, 1919, in Borup, to Nicholas and Mary Louise (Bannon) Miller. He grew up on the family farm west of Borup, attending country school and later graduating from Borup High School. Following his schooling, Walter farmed small grains with his dad and raised cattle and pigs. He later farmed with his brother-in-law, Emil Schmidt, for several years.
Walter also worked at Stenerson's in Borup. When Stenerson's closed, he went to work at Great Plains Supply in Ada. After many years, Walter retired from Great Plains Supply in the mid 1980's. In July of 1999, he moved to the Twin Valley Living Center.
Walter will be remembered as a storyteller, but a good guy that would do anything for you. He was a social butterfly, getting to know everyone around him. He liked visiting with friends and family and his day-to-day routine. Walter was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ada.
Surviving him are six nieces and nephews: Rick (Jeri) Schmidt of Cohasset, MN, Bob (Tammy) Schmidt, of Kindred, ND, Joyce (Doug) Berg, of Bemidji, MN, Louise Tracy, of Fargo, ND, Mary Ellen (Jim) VanAmber of Mankato, MN, and Linda Carnegie, of Borup; 17 great nieces and nephews and 14 great-great nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Grace Miller, Elizabeth Schmidt and Marguerite Olich.
Blessed be the memory of Walter Miller.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, August 30th at 2 pm at the Twin Valley Living Center Chapel.
Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral at the nursing home.
Burial will be in the Ada Municipal Cemetery.
