Watch VonDell's Memorial Service
VonDell Jacqueline (Puhalla) Malmskog, 80, of Dilworth, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14 at Serenity Assisted Living & Memory Care surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN with the Pastor Norm Gullingsrud officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
VonDell was born in Ada, MN, to Louis and Darlene (Fosmark) Puhalla on January 13, 1942. She grew up and attended school in Felton, MN. After high school she attended Interstate Business College and worked at the Harwood State Bank, until she met Larry Malmskog. VonDell and Larry were married on September 24, 1966. They moved to the farm near Flom, MN, and had three daughters: Jill, Jane, and Judy.
After VonDell's divorce from Larry she opened a small craft boutique in the basement of the farm house called Dell's Downstairs where she sold local arts and crafts. In the early 1990s she moved to Moorhead and worked at a craft store in the Moorhead Center Mall. Her final 12 years of employment were at the Fargo Healthcare Center where she received much support from co-workers and friends while she battled and survived breast cancer. She retired in 2011.
VonDell was very active in her Lutheran faith and was an dedicated member of Atlanta Lutheran Church for many years. She collected Hymnals and read the Bible and did devotions daily.
She also enjoyed writing poems with one of them being published. One of her favorite activities was spending time with friends and family; especially with her grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved shopping with her daughters and had a "special skill" for finding the best deals.
After VonDell was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia she moved to Serenity Assisted Living & Memory Care where she spent her last two years.
VonDell is preceded in death by her father, Louis; mother, Darlene; brother, Norton (John); and Brother-in-Law, Jerry.
VonDell is survived by her three daughters Jill, Jane, and Judy; sister Debby; and her five grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Taylor, Avery, and Greyson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be VonDell's grandchildren.
VonDell's family would like to thank the caregivers of Serenity and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful love and care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, family would prefer memorials to Serenity Assisted Living and Memory Care Center, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or a charity of your choice in VonDell's memory.
