Virginia A. Aanenson, 89, Ada, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Essentia Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Virginia Ann (Schultz) Aanenson was born July 7, 1935 in the hospital in Mt. Lake, MN. The daughter of Alfred and Beathel (Flatgard) Schultz. I was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. I grew up on the farm in Enterprise Township, started by my great grandfather, Karl Grunst. In my growing up years I gathered lots of eggs and washed them, helped herd lots of pigs, and picked strawberries. Belonged to a 4-H club, went to school district 20 for 8 years, then to Jackson High School, graduating in 1953, and attended the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis for 12 months.

In August of 1955, I started working in the lab of the Ada, MN Hospital. While there I met the love of my life, Allen Aanenson. In the fall of 1958 I went to Mahnomen, MN, and worked in the hospital there until spring of 1961.

Allen and I were married on May 28, 1960, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jackson Co. We came back to Ada and raised our 4 children. I stayed at home until Anne was in Kindergarten. I started babysitting, then I worked for Dr. Kinkade at the Ada Clinic for a number of years. He retired, then I worked in the Special Ed. Class at Ada High School for 9 years. Allen retired in 1994, so I did too. We had many great years in retirement. We took some great bus tours with friends, spent a few months in Panama City Beach, Florida for 4-5 years, and my brother David was there too.

When the kids were still home we had many great camping trips to Itasca State Park and other lake areas.

I learned to make quilt tops, so I had something to do for many years.

I have been a member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years. I taught Sunday School for 17 years, was a member of ZELW, and an honorary member of Ladies Auxiliary of Ada VFW. My happiest memories are being a wife to Allen, a mother to Kari, Molly, Eric and Anne, and a grandma to Adam, Hannah and Ismael (Izzy), my loving grandkids.

Virginia is survived by her children, Kari, Molly, Eric and Anne; grandchildren, Adam, Hannah, and Ismael (Izzy); and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; brother, David Schultz; and parents, Alfred and Beathel.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Two hours before the funeral at the church.

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
