Obituary

Virgil H. Neset, age 85 of Ada, MN, formerly of Twin Valley, MN, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Bridges Care Community in Ada, MN.

Virgil was born January 19, 1927 in Mayville, ND, the son of Henry and Hilda (Strom) Neset. Growing up, he attended country school followed by Mayville High School where he graduated with the class of 1945. After graduation, Virgil entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII.

Upon an honorable discharge, Virgil returned to Mayville where he was united in marriage to Leona Nelson on June 15, 1947. The couple worked together for Roy Howard of rural Cummings, ND, for three years before moving to Gary, MN, and purchasing their own farm. Virgil and Leona operated a dairy farm and raised a family of seven children. In 1987, they sold the dairy herd but remained on the farm. During his lifetime, Virgil worked various different jobs. In 1999, Leona moved into Twin Valley Living Center where she passed away on November 30, 2009. Virgil resided at Valley Pines in Twin Valley for several years before moving to Bridges Care Community last year.

Virgil truly enjoyed life on the farm. He spent countless hours outside whether it was in the garden, tending to the variety of animals or just keeping the farm in order. Virgil also liked reading, woodworking and playing checkers and cards with family and friends. He volunteered for many years at the Twin Valley Living Center and attended church and Bible Study at the Christian Outpost, whenever he was able. Virgil was a born again, Spirit filled Christian who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
