Violet J. Schroeder, age 84, of Twin Valley, MN, died Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN.

Violet Johnson was born July 4, 1934 at home to Nels and Anna (Ronning) Johnson. She was raised with her family just south of Flom where she attended country school. She attended high school and graduated from Twin Valley High School. As a young woman, she worked at the grocery store in Flom for a few years. She was united in marriage to Herbert Schroeder at the Wild Rice parsonage in 1954. The couple made their home east of Twin Valley on the farm they operated for over 40 years. After Herbert's death in 1985, Violet continued to make her home on the farm until moving into the Lincoln Terrace apartments in Twin Valley in the early 2000's. In 2014, she moved into the Twin Valley Living Center and has made her home there since.

In her spare time, Violet greatly enjoyed painting on canvas. She painted numerous flowers that will be treasured forever. She also enjoyed writing and reading poetry. Her contagious smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Violet is survived by one son, Herbert Jr. and his wife, Betty of Mahnomen, MN; twin brothers, Dennis (Sharon) of Twin Valley, MN and Donald (Sharon) of East Grand Forks, MN; three sisters, Rita (Tom) Bastion, Cheyenne, WY., Vivian Anker, Fargo, ND, and Darlene Griffin, Hazen, ND; and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Johnny, Roy, and Harry; and two sisters: Renae and Lillian.

A Graveside Service was held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Aspelund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Flom, MN.
