Violet Roesch, 81, of Ada, MN died Sunday November 8, 2015 at her home on the farm in Ada.
Violet Elsie Braun was born May 12, 1934, to Gottlob and Jenny (Ten Bos) Braun of Gary, MN. She grew up on the farm by Gary, first attending Country School and then graduated from Gary High School in 1952. For a short time she worked at Maas's Store in Lockhart, MN before moving to the Chicago suburb of Berwyn, Illinois. There she lived with her Aunt Laura's family and rode the train to work at her job at Riverside National Bank. After a few years she moved to Ada, and began work as a switchboard operator for Norman County Telephone Company while also working at the Ada National Bank.
On August 20, 1960 she married Ronald Roesch. They lived on the farm by Ada and she continued to work at the bank until her first child was born. She then spent her life as a home maker, mother, grandmother, and babysitter. She was a member of the Methodist/Faith United Church since 1955. She was active in Ladies Leisure Hour Club, Homemakers Club, Faith United Women Group, and Ruth Circle. For many years she was active in the Ada Valley Square Dance Club with her husband Ron. She enjoyed her garden, canning and flowers. When her kids were at home they went on family trips in the camper to Florida, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Michigan and many camping and fishing trips to Minnesota Lakes. She enjoyed the time she spent getting to know her German Cousins when they traveled here and stayed with her. She later spent time babysitting for area families and her grandchildren. After the death of her husband Ron in 2004, she continued to live on the farm. She took a few trips to visit her son Jim's family in San Antonio and enjoyed time at his lake cabin near Bemidji. She also enjoyed being close to her other grandchildren and being able to see them in their school and church activities.
