Watch Violet's Funeral Service

Violet Orre, age 94, of Ada, MN, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Violet Laurine Annis, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Dahl) Annis, was born at home on the 4 ^th of July in 1926, weighing only 4lbs.  Thriving, Violet was raised on the family farm near Gary, MN and attended country grade school.  She was baptized and confirmed at a Lutheran Church a mile from her home. She attended high school in Gary and then worked in Minneapolis at Sears for a few years. She then moved home and worked at the Twin Valley Cafe where she met John Orre, the love of her life. After a few short months, the couple was married on April 22, 1945.  They were blessed with seven children before Johns death in 1964.  As a young mother, Violet focused her life on raising their children.  With many mouths to feed, Violet baked fresh bread and wonderful cakes daily.  She always had a large garden and spent hours canning both vegetables and meats.  She truly poured her heart and soul into her family.  Violet cherished the loving companionship of Norman Orre for many years.  Later in life, Violet proudly obtained both her GED and her driver's license.  She loved playing cards, putting puzzles together, baking and spending time with family and friends.  She never missed a family members birthday and always brought her children and grandchildren a homemade cake to celebrate their special day. Violet had sent out thousands of cards to her family and friends over the years and wrote words of encouragement and love in each one. In 2016, Violet moved into the Benedictine Care Community where she built wonderful relationships with the staff and residents.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Violet is survived by two sons: Jerry (Lisa) of Fertile, MN and Mark (Betty) of Park Rapids, MN; three daughters: Carolyn (Wayne) Stundahl of Gary, Kathryn (Gary) Sorenson of Fargo, ND, and Vicki (James) Gunufson of Fertile; her son-in-law, Ronnie Ek of Fertile; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Marissa, Elizabeth, Shawn, Jodi, Kiowa, Cassey, Arianna, Jamie, Amber, Justin, Kevin, Sheldon, Naomi, Tara, Shannon, Lindsey, Rachel, Jon, Cade, Christopher, Nathan, Miranda, and Carissa; her great grandchildren: Catalina, Morrison, Dalton, Peyton, Josie, Layla, Jason, James, Alexander, India, Logan, Elli, Oscar, Clara, Alison, Hunter, Isabella, Sam, Branden, Caitlynn, Julie, Eric, Jay, Graham, Owen, Elin, Ava, Greta, and Landon; and her dear friend and roommate, Arline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anna; her husband, John Arnold; two children: James Orre and Linda Ek; two sisters, Ella Gullingsrud and Esther Smith; and one brother, Roy Annis; and two grandchildren.

A Private Family Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN. The public is welcome to come to the church one hour prior to the service for a public visitation. Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mark to attend.
