Viola Saice, 82, of Mahnomen, MN, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.

Viola B. Saice was born on April 9, 1925, in Island Lake, MN, to Dan and Viola (Folstrom) Foster. As a young girl, she attended school in Mahnomen. In 1943, Viola was united in marriage to Saul Saice. The couple continued to live in Mahnomen where Viola raised their family.

Often inseparable, Viola and her sister Edith enjoyed one another's company and spent endless hours together. In her spare time, she liked playing bingo and making the occasional trip to the casino. Viola also loved spending time with her family and baking bread and cakes.

She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth (Gary) Knott, Minneapolis; Carol (LeRoy) Burnside, Hawley, MN; Rose Saice; Debbie (Keith) Abdo, one son, Sonny (Rose) Saice , all of Mahnomen; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Edith Stevens, Waubun, MN; Francis Wilcox, Eugene, OR; Dale (Lyle) Richmond, Eugene, OR; Edna Cluff, Anchorage, AL; Arlene Dibbles, Boise, ID; several nieces and nephews.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one grandson, Scott; five brothers; three sisters; and Rose's companion, James "Bimbo" Pergl Jr.
