Vincent Gordon Svare, 83, a resident of Ada, MN, entered his eternal home on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Sanford's Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family.
Vince was born on August 12, 1927 in Pelican Rapids, MN, the youngest of ten children, son of Alfred and Jorgine (Hanson) Svare. He grew up on a farm near Pelican and was baptized and confirmed at Bagstevold Lutheran Church, Erhard, MN, attending the rural grade school and graduating from Pelican Rapids High in 1944.
Vince married Genevieve Estelle Mobraten at Hedemarken Lutheran Church, Carlisle, MN, on July 27, 1952. They lived in Ada, where Vince worked at the Gambles store, in car sales, and eventually as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1996. He served his community and his church, Grace Lutheran, in many elected and volunteer positions, always sharing his wit, smile, humor and active faith. He was an avid Cougar, Viking, and Twins fan, and showed great pride in his grandchildren, guiding them with spiritual direction, "Vince-isms" and unique love for each one.
Special people in Vince's life besides his extended family were the people of the Ada Post Office, the staff at Fredrikson's, the MN Rural Letter Carrier's Association, Ada auto dealers, fellow Grace members, his men's Bible study, the Grace Senior Choir, his coffee gang, the Pelican Rapids Class of '44, Ada Meal's on Wheels recipients, the Bridges Heritage Leaders, and his many friends and acquaintances.
Vince is survived by his wife, Gen; sisters Alfreda Eide of Fergus Falls, MN and Lenore (Clarence) Haug of Ada, MN; brother-in-law Quentin Weberg, Minnetonka, MN; children Jane (Doug) Anderson of Edina, MN, Reed (Kathy) Svare of Eveleth, MN, Karin (Eric) Noble of Tuolumne, CA and Kristin (Kory) Auch of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren Lauren, Maari and Nash Anderson, Luke and Tony Svare, Berit Johnson, Grace and Sullivan Noble, Madison, Carter and Dixon Auch; step-grandchildren Doug Jr. and Kristina Anderson and step-great granddaughters McKenzie and McKayla Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Rolf David; brother Harold; sisters Cora Loken, Edna Kieland, Adeline Sethre, Florence Weberg, Mildred Sethre, and Lorraine Eide.
Memorials preferred to: American Diabetes Association.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 20th with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m., Grace Lutheran Church, Ada

Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21st, Grace Lutheran Church

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery
