Watch Beans' Memorial Service

Vernon "Beans" Wander, age 82, of Waubun, MN, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Vibra Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Vernon Leon Wander was born on April 11, 1938, the oldest of four boys born to Walter and Nora (Thompson) Wander. He attended school through the 8 th grade before going to work for his Dad on the family farm. He later started working road construction in Virginia, MN. Beans then started his own road construction business and could operate a dozer like no one else! On August 31, 1972, he married Beverly Hagl and the couple was blessed with four children. The family made their home in Waubun. Beans and Beverly later divorced but he continued to make his home in the area. He then married Alice Bursheim in 1995, in Bagley, MN.

Beans loved the great outdoors and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed every trip taken with family and friends whenever the opportunity arose. Many trips were taken out west hunting elk in Colorado, big northern in Buffalo Bay, Manitoba, and deer hunting on the land up north.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Alice, of 25 years; four children: Ann Watson of Moorhead, MN, Sharon (Jeff) DeGroot of Edinburg, TX, Leon (Rhonda) Wander of Bemidji, MN, and Henry (Nikki) Wander of Rothsay, MN; brothers: Michael (Regina) Wander and Louis (Vanda) Wander; sister-in-law, Shirley Wander; grandchildren: Jessica Watson, Brittanie Watson, Samantha Watson, Katlyn Watson, Jeffery DeGroot, Amelia DeGroot, Nathan Oien, Livvy Wander, and Emmy Wander; stepchildren: Bruce Bursheim, Laura (Matt) Stark, Brian (Nila) Bursheim, Marcia (Steve) Heng, and Christopher Bursheim, Sr.; step grandchildren: Tasha, Breanda, Kindra, Chris Jr., and Salem; step great-granddaughter, Aleigha; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nora Wander; brother, Thomas Wander; niece, Janelle Wander; nephew, Dean Wander; and dear friends, Keith Rector and Terry Lee Prellwitz.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate.
