Vernon Glen Jacobson, 84, Twin Valley, MN died Friday, June 28th in his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Vernon was born August 4, 1928 in his parent's farm home east of Twin Valley. He was the son of Peter and Anna (Salvhus) Jacobson. He was raised on the farm and attended country School. Vernon was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. As a young man, Vernon worked in the area and helped on the family farm. On October 12, 1968 Vernon was united in marriage to Violet Hanson in Ada, MN. They made their home on the farm which he purchased from his parents. For many years he was employed at Abbott- Arnie & Schwindt Construction while at the same time operated his farm. In 1995, his son, Verneil, took over the family farm and even though Vernon semi-retired he still helped when he could.
Vernon was a true farmer at heart and was passionate about the land. He loved working with cattle as well as cropland. Vernon also greatly enjoyed going on picnics with his family and simply going on drives around the countryside. Another thing he will be remembered for was the way he loved to making lefse for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Violet of Twin Valley; two daughters, Vicki Jacobson and Velvet (Mike) Wasfaret, and one son, Verneil all of Twin Valley; four grandchildren: Savannah, Vince, Velissa and Vaden; and one sister, Darlene Charbonneau, Fargo, ND.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, LeRoy; two sisters, Frances and an infant sister; and one grandson, Vance.
Graveside services were held Friday July 5th at 1:00pm at the Twin Valley City Cemetery, Twin Valley, MN with Pastor Derek Claypool officiating. His Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Savannah Wasfaret, Vince Wasfaret, Velissa Wasfaret and Vaden Wasfaret.
