Obituary

Vergil M. Hennen, 83, Windermere, FL, formerly of Borup, MN, journeyed to his heavenly home on Monday, September 2, 2013. He was born May 9, 1930, to Michael & Rose (Shafer) Hennen at home in Mary Township west of Borup. He graduated from Borup High School and was enlisted in the Army from 1954- 1956 when he served during the Korean War and trained as a gunner on 155 self-propelled Siner Howliser in Germany. After his discharge he took over the family farm near Borup.

He married Barbara Rozycki of Minneapolis, MN, on October 11, 1958. They farmed for 30 years and then moved to Anoka, MN, to manage a senior apartment complex, where both were managers for 1.5 years. In 1988 they moved to Windermere, FL, to work for the owner of the New Jersey Devil's hockey team and Houston Astros baseball team, as a property manager and caretaker at Lake Nona, FL. While living in Borup, Vergil was on the Mary Township Board, Director & past President of Felton Farmers Co-op Elevator Board, Trustee & past President of St. Joseph Parish Council in Ada, MN, Director and President of Borup Community Club, Secretary and Treasurer of Knights of Columbus and Activities Chairman of Knights of Columbus. He received the Farmer of the Year Award of Norman County in 1978. He is a life member of Knights of Columbus and also Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Vergil enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and being involved in the community. He was an avid sports fan enjoying the Vikings, MN Twins, NJ Devils and Houston Astros. His parents and sisters, Margaret Babler and Leatrice Brown, and one brother, Clyde Hennen preceded him in death. Survivors include; his wife Barbara Hennen of Windermere, FL, son Keith (Darla) Hennen of Borup, MN, daughters Kathy (Tom) Myers of Minneaolis, MN and Karen Hennen of New Port Richey, FL, his grandchildren: Jeremy Hennen, Nicole Burlage, Marissa Hennen, Jace Hennen, Janae Myers and Kassidi Hennen.

Funeral Mass: 10:30AM, Saturday, September 14, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: 5-7PM Friday with a 7PM wake service at the church.

Burial: Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
