Vera Werpy, 90 of Twin Valley, MN formerly Gary, MN died Sunday December 31, 2006 in the Bridges Hospital, Ada, MN.

Vera M. Sannes was born July 5, 1916 on a farm north of Gary, MN the daughter of Ludvig and Sophie (Peterson) Sannes. She was raised on the farm and attended country school. As a young lady she worked as a house keeper on area farms and also in Moorhead, MN and later in the Ada Hotel. On February 28, 1938, she was married to Guy A. Werpy in Gary. They made their home in Gary where she lived for over 50 years. After raising her family she began working in the Fertile Cafe and later worked in the North Gary Restaurant. In the mid 1970's, Vera became a custodian in the Gary School where she was employed for 17 years. Her husband died in 1983. In the early 1990's she moved to Twin Valley, MN where she lived with her daughter Shirley. After several years Vera moved into the Valley Pines Apartments in Twin Valley and has made her home there since.

Vera was active in her church where she was a lifetime member. She enjoyed traveling when she had the opportunity, cooking and was a fantastic baker. She loved to play cards and bingo but what Vera will long be remembered for is her love of helping neighbors and her kind and giving heart. She was always there for a friend whether it was bring food by or just being there to talk.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Kenneth) Underdahl Kappes, Ada, MN and Joan (Ed) Georgeson, Larimore, ND; two sons, Lowell (Bea) and Gene (Bonnie) both of Gary, MN; one sister, Dora (Loren) Olson, Ada, MN; two brothers, Ray (Bernice) Sannes and Kenneth (Shirley) Sannes both of Fertile, MN. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Harvey, five brothers, two sisters, one grandson, and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 10:30am in the Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a family service at 7:00pm all in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley, MN and also one hour before services at the church. Pastor Jeff McCracken will officiate. Julia Mae Gullingsrud will be the organist with both Julie Thornton and Dave Underdahl singing. Her pallbearers are Bradley Werpy, Keith Kappes, Ronnie Sannes, Dennis Sannes, Jerome Sannes and Orvis Lewis. Burial is in the Gary Lutheran Cemetery at Gary.
