Obituary

Trevor John Vavrina, age 58, unexpectedly passed away in the early morning of June 10, 2025. He passed peacefully in his sleep.

Trevor was born on August 10, 1966, in Blue Earth, MN. He lived a life of perseverance, adventure, endless laughter, and, most importantly, love... or perhaps golf.

Trevor grew up primarily in Coon Rapids, MN, with his parents and siblings of which he was very protective of growing up and into adulthood. He was a jokester and never took anything too seriously, always finding something to laugh about and to make others laugh. In high school, Trevor joined the U.S. National Guard where he served for 8 years. He graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1985.

Trevor met his beautiful wife, Shari, in 1992, someone he could lean on when times were tough and someone tough enough to take all his jokes. Trevor was Shari's everything and she was his. They raised their two children in Big Lake, MN. Trevor passed his sense of humor, lighteartedness, and protective nature onto his firstborn, Cody. He passed his smile, lightheartedness, and creativity to his daughter, Cheyenne. Trevor always made a point to tell his children about how proud he was of them. He was a hardworking husband and father who would support any endeavor his family wished. While in Big Lake, Trevor and Shari got their beloved yellow lab, Nick, who was his best friend. Most recently he became a doting grandfather to his granddaughter, Myla.

We all know that golf was Trevor's passion, more like an obsession. He loved traveling from course to course to golf with his family and friends. His children and nephews were impromptu golf students of his and encouraged all of them to push themselves to be better golfers and have fun on the course. Trevor loved his golf leagues, but his favorite tournament of the year was the legendary Run from the Moose golf tournament. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking any chance he could get. Although Trevor's dream job would be to be a golf pro, he spent 30 years minus one day (to golf) working at the SuperValue Warehouse in Hopkins, MN. He gained many amazing friends during that time. After working so many years in the warehouse, Trevor and Shari put all their belongings in storage and headed South where they were able to stay warm for two winters. Altogether, Trevor was a kindhearted man who would drop anything for his family, friends, and neighbors.

Trevor is survived by his wife, Shari Vavrina; son, Cody Vavrina (Heidi); granddaughter, Myla; daughter, Cheyenne DeMenge (Travis); parents, Bonnie and Roger Vavrina; in-laws, Jim and Francy Gleason; sisters: Robin Olson (Rob), Chere Doerscher (Barry), Cindy Thomas (John); his brother, Rick Vavrina (Nancy); brother-in-law, Troy Gleason (Stacy); and many nieces and nephews who all adored him.

He is preceded in death by his younger brothers, Darren Vavrina and Brian Vavrina.

Trevor will be truly missed but we know he is golfing in heaven with our late family and friends. We hope everyone will celebrate him and remember him for the good times....Dilly dilly!
