Terry Starkey, age 68, of Mahnomen, MN, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Essentia Health, Fargo ND.

Terry M. Starkey was born in Mahnomen on September 6, 1952, the middle son of Harley and Priscilla (Stall) Starkey. He grew up in Mahnomen where he attended school and graduated from Mahnomen High School.  After graduation, Terry served with the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and following an honorable discharge in 1972, he returned to Mahnomen. On October 2, 1972, Terry was united in marriage to Linda Krebsbach. The couple were blessed with two children, Janis and Adam.  They made their home in Mahnomen for a few years while Terry worked for Cenex as a mechanic until they moved to Thief River Falls, MN. With the children still young, Terry completed classes for radio broadcasting. He then began working as a DJ for the radio station in Thief River Falls followed by Walker, MN, and eventually several stations in North Dakota before returning to Mahnomen.

Terry would spend the next several years with Connie Crane. They married in 1995 and together had a son, Terry.  They would later divorce and Terry has made his home in Mahnomen ever since.

As an avid outdoorsman, Terry enjoyed everything it had to offer. From gardening to hunting, shooting guns to four-wheeling or riding his motorcycle, he had a great appreciation for all of it. In addition to the great outdoors, Terry loved his family and spending time together. He often like to joke and tease and will be remembered for his unique laugh and great sense of humor. Terry was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen and the American Legion Isaacson-Bjorge Post #31 of Mahnomen.

Terry is survived by three children: Janis (Eric) Francis of Mahnomen, Adam (Sarah) Starkey of Blue Springs, MO, and Terry "Bud" Starkey of Mahnomen; four grandchildren: John Francis, Kurtis Francis, Eva Starkey, Alexis Starkey; one great grandchild: Roland Francis; mom, Priscilla "Percy" Starkey of Mahnomen; two sisters, Judy (Steve) Bellefeuille of St. Michael, MN, Vicky (Tom) Burford of Bagley, MN; sister-in-law, Linda Ames of Mahnomen; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Harley; grandparents, Wilbert and Clara Starkey and Louis and Theresa Stall; brother, LeRoy "Rocky" Starkey and Mark "Sonny" Starkey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 2pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN.  A time of gathering will be held one hour prior at the church.  Inurnment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery, Mahnomen.
