Obituary

Terry Goodwin, age 63, of Mahnomen, MN, died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at his home, under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Terry Lee Goodwin, twin brother of Gary Goodwin, and son of Ervin and Geraldine (Villebrun) Goodwin, was born October 18, 1951, in White Earth, MN. He grew up in the Twin Cities area where he attended school and later worked for various restaurants. Following high school, Terry spent 28 years living on and off with his sister, Ninny, and nephew, Rashann. Several years ago he moved to Mahnomen to be closer to family. Terry was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2014.
Terry was full of love for his family and was exceptionally close to his twin brother, Gary. He enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino and listening to Van Morrison. Terry loved fishing, especially at Lake Venoah. Like his brother, Gary, he had a huge heart and was a good son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by a daughter, Lenea Townsend and grandson, Devyen, of Fort Collins, CO; his father, Ervin Goodwin of Mahnomen; five brothers: Merton Turpin of Mahnomen, John Turpin of Marion, IL, Terry Goodwin, Sandy Goodwin both of Mahnomen, Craig (Donna) Goodwin of Richfield, MN, and Guy Goodwin of Mahnomen; four sisters: May (Skip) Weigelt, Ninny Goodwin both of Minneapolis, Charli (Ken) Lacey of Richfield, MN, and Bobbi (Poncho) Rodriquez of Bloomington, MN; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Turpin of Miltona, MN; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and several great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother; three brothers: Clyde, Todd and twin Gary; and one sister, Caroline.

Traditional Indian Burial was held at Duane Cemetery, rural Mahnomen, at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015. Serving as pallbearers were Bobbi Rodriquez, Ninny Goodwin, Merton Turpin, Sandy Goodwin, John Goodwin, Craig Goodwin, and Guy Goodwin. A luncheon took place at the home of Ervin Goodwin following the burial.
