Terri Qual, age 46 of Winger, MN, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston, MN.
Terri Lynn Qual was born February 5, 1966 in Mahnomen, MN, the daughter of Sherman and Sandra (Adolphsen) Qual. She grew up in Mahnomen and graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1984. Following high school, Terri attended Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes, MN, to pursue a degree in accounting. She made her home in the Fargo-Moorhead area until 1989. Terri then moved back to the Mahnomen/Bejou/Winger area and worked at the Shooting Star Casino, Pembina Supper Club, Beaner's Bar and Farmers Union. She also worked as a special ed para for the Mahnomen School District for several years, only to go back to college at Bemidji State University to further her education. Terri received her BS in teaching and moved to Alaska where she worked as a substitute teacher at Mat-Su Borough School District. In March of 2012, Terri's health began to decline and she made her final move back to Minnesota.
Some of Terri's favorite past times were the Friday movie nights with her son, Braxton, and going camping, especially on North Twin Lake ever since she was a little girl. She also liked cross stitching and baking; making all the goodies including Lefse around the holidays. Those who were closest to Terri, knew she was a "collector" of stuff. She had unique collections of different things like cows, watches and snow globes, only to name a few. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Terri is survived by her son, Braxton of Mora, MN; her father, Sherman Qual of Mahnomen; three brothers: Michael (Shari) Qual of Wasilla, AK, Todd Qual of Fargo, ND and Randy (Darcy) Qual of Mora; four nieces and nephews: Zack, Macaylee and Maddison Qual of Wasilla and Karla Qual of Mora and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mom in 2007 and a niece, Ashay in 1991.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11 am at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen, MN.
A Time of Gathering will occur on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5-7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen.
