Terrance Elmer Alger, age 52, of Naytahwaush, MN, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at his home.
Terry was born November 21, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN, to Gerald and Thelma (Keezer) Alger. Growing up, his family lived in many different states, including Minnesota, California and Maryland. Terry graduated from Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Maryland. Following graduation, he worked several jobs, as well as seeing much of the country. Terry has spent the last 20 years in Minnesota, doing roofing in the Twin Cities area, and then making his home in Naytahwaush since 1995. Over the years, some of the occupations he enjoyed were fishing, ricing, leeching, and processing maple syrup.
Terry will be remembered for his story telling abilities and the backpack he never left behind. He loved playing cards, watching Jeopardy and playing Trivial Pursuit.
Terry leaves behind his mother, Thelma VanValkenburgh of Naytahwaush; his father, Gerald (Sue) Alger of Walker, MN; one brother, Bruce Alger of Naytahwaush; three sisters: Holly Alger of MahKonce, MN, Robin VanValkenburgh of Asheville, NC, and Kandy (Al) Vagelpohl of Dassel, MN; one step-brother, Mike Hinck of Mound, MN; one step-sister, Denise Hinck of Dassel, MN, five nieces and nephews: Amanda Alger, Millissa Alger, James (Mary Jo) Alger, Bruce Alger Jr. and Peyton Zornes; and numerous great nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents; brother, James VanValkenburgh; nephew, Joseph Alger; two nieces, Heather Alger and Elicia Alger.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 2 pm at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex led by Sam Musqua. Visitation begin Wednesday, June 17th at 7 pm and continue until the time of the service all at the sports complex. Pallbearers were Chris Ellis, Skip Gullickson, Troy Keezer, James Alger, Robert Keezer, James Burnette III, Calvin Sampson, and Jacob Vogelpohl. Honorary Bearers were the Keezer Clan, Fred Morgan, Richard Littlewolf, Kevin Brown, Alvin Hill, Jay Weiss, and Ben Vogelpohl. Burial was in the Samuel Memorial Episcopal Cemetery, Naytahwaush.
