Twin Valley

Obituary

Tameron "Tami" Pearl Dunbar, age 66, of Twin Valley, MN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at her home, under the devoted care of her family and HIA Hospice.

Tami was born on August 17, 1959, in Ada, MN, to Boyd and Shirley (Werpy) Underdahl. She grew up on the family farm, where she enjoyed driving tractor, helping her dad, and riding horses. As a young woman, Tami worked at the Twin Valley Nursing Home, a job she truly treasured. She graduated from high school with the Class of 1977.

On August 13, 1977, Tami was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas Dunbar. Together they made their first home in Moorhead, where Tami attended technical college, before returning to Twin Valley to live on the Underdahl farm. In 1988, the family moved to Owatonna, MN, where Tami found deep fulfillment working at Elm Homes in Waseca, caring for individuals with disabilities. Her work there was more than a job, it was her calling. She remained devoted to that work until her retirement in 2000, when the family returned to Twin Valley.

Tami was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1988, a battle she faced with remarkable courage and grace. Though the disease affected her body, it never touched her spirit. Her love for life, her faith, and her compassion for others remained steadfast.

The two greatest priorities in Tami's life were her family and her faith. She and Tom were blessed with three children—Chassidy, Derick, and Dana—whom she loved deeply and prayed for faithfully. Time together was sacred to her, whether it was spent playing Scrabble or Yahtzee, sharing quiet moments, or leaving loving notes filled with encouragement.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. On June 19, 1987, Tami went forward at a Billy Graham Evangelistic service in Fargo, ND, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that marked a profound turning point in her life. She was later baptized at Walworth Baptist Church in Ulen, MN. She found comfort and strength in her well-worn Bible and freely shared God's Word with those around her. Tami sent scripture and prayers during times of hardship, offered reassurance when hearts were heavy, and was a source of peace to many. She also shared her daily devotions on Facebook, hoping to uplift and encourage others. Among her most cherished passages were John 3:3, John 3:16–18, John 11:25–26, John 14:1–4, 6, and Romans 10:9-10,13.

Tami's life on this Earth was one of love, compassion, and her deep-rooted faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If she could choose how she is remembered, it would be for her kindness, her prayers, and the quiet way she made others feel cared for and seen.

Tami is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Tom Dunbar; children: Chassidy Dunbar and Derick Forsberg; grandchildren: Zane Robbinson, Cairo Ruiz, Zoe Forsberg, Hunter Forsberg, and Jaxon Forsberg; mother, Shirley Kappes; brother, Brian Underdahl; and sisters, Angie (Kevin) Korsgaden and Nancy Voss; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Tami was greeted in heaven by her father, Boyd Underdahl; stepfather, Kenneth Kappes; daughter, Dana; and brother-in-law, Don Dunbar.

She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior. John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

To honor Tami's wishes, no services will be held.
