Sylvia Boman, age 74, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in her residence.
Sylvia Margaret Lillian Buschette was born November 15, 1932, to Alois and Barbara (Waltz) Buschette in Mahnomen, Minnesota. She grew up on her family farm outside of Mahnomen. Sylvia attended school in Mahnomen and graduated valedictorian in 1950. She married Roy Lewis Boman of Mahnomen on December 2, 1950. Sylvia lived outside of Twin Valley on her family farm the rest of her life.
Sylvia had a love for gardening and flowers. She owned Kitty Floral and did many weddings, funeral and "just because" flowers. She always shared the bounty from her garden with friends and family alike. She was very active as a leader in 4-H through the years and received the "Friend of 4-H" award in 1990. She was an active member of the Norman County ADA. She was an active member of the St. William parish in Twin Valley. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, giving them golf cart rides and garden tours.
Sylvia is survived by seven children: Steve (Sandy), Twin Valley, MN, Kathy (Wes) Michaels, Mentor, MN, David, Twin Valley, Diane "Cookie" (Dave) Mattsen, Ramsey, MN, Eric "Beezer" (Joyce) Twin Valley, MN, Beth (Brad) Strum, Twin Valley, Ruth "Charlie" (Paul) DuChene, Moorhead, MN; 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Ramond, Detroit Lakes, Lloyd, Detroit Lakes, Clarence, Mahnomen and Edwin, Rockford, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, a granddaughter, Stacey, one sister, Irene Johnson, three brothers, Danny, Ivan and Lawrence
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 2:00 PM in St. William Catholic Church, Twin Valley. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27th from 6PM until 8PM with a Prayer Service at 8PM all at St. William Catholic Church in Twin Valley.
Officiating will be Fr. Tom Friedl and Deacon Nick Revier with Monica Winter serving as organist and Tanya Kemper serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Scott Boman, Seth Boman, Sawyer Boman, Matt Boman, Chris Boman, Brad Boman, Andy Boman, Mike Boman, Jason Mattsen, Jeff Mattsen and Justin Mattsen. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
