Sylvia Bakke, age 85, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Friday, September 24, 2010, in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.
Sylvia Geneva Bakke was born March 4, 1925, in Moorhead, Minnesota, the daughter of Knute and Johanna (Ellingson) Bakke. She was raised in Glyndon, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Glyndon High School. As a young lady she moved with her family to the Syre, Minnesota, community. She worked on the family farm until her parents' death in 1963. Sylvia then moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where she was employed at a laundromat until the mid 1980's. At that time, Sylvia moved to Twin Valley to live with her sister, Gladys. She was employed at the Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home in housekeeping until her retirement in 1997. Sylvia made her home at the Valley Pines Apartments until entering the Twin Valley Living Center in 2008where she resided until the time of her death.
Sylvia loved taking walks around town and going for drives in her car. She was a member of Assemblys of God Church in Detroit Lakes where she enjoyed participating in the church activities.
Sylvia is survived by a niece, Janice (John)Vleck of Pullman, WA; two nephews, Marvin (Laura) Berg of Anchorage, AK and Dean Berg of West Fargo; six great-nephews and five great-nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Gladys and one nephew, Orvin.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 27, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the Twin Valley Living Center Chapel, Twin Valley. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Twin Valley Living Center on Monday.
Burial will be in the Syre Lutheran Cemetery, Syre, Minnesota.
