Susan Kay Biggers' Obituary
Susan Biggers, age 60 of Fedora, South Dakota, formerly Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Susan Kay Gullingsrud was born June 11, 1950, the daughter of Kenneth and Edith (Sorensen) Gullingsrud in Ada, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm near Gary, Minnesota, and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1968. On November 16, 1967, Susan was united in marriage to Willis Biggers at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Gary. The couple made their home in Gary until moving to Twin Valley in 1972. Susan was employed at the Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home as a Nurse's Aide for the over 22 years. She also enjoyed operating a ceramic shop in her home for many years while living in Twin Valley. In 2000, Susan moved to Fedora, South Dakota. While living there, she was employed at the Wal-mart in Mitchell for a few years. For the past six years, Susan was employed at the Prairie Inn at Carthage, South Dakota, where she worked until the time of her death.
Susan was a life long member of St. Petri Lutheran Church. She was also the church secretary for the Gary Lutheran church parishes many years. She enjoyed spending time baking, doing arts and crafts, quilting and tending to her garden as well as canning her own produce.
Susan is survived by a special friend, Roger Nicholay of Fedora, SD; three sons, Kevin (Mari Puetz) Biggers of Moorhead, MN, Dion (Lisa Kaasa) Biggers of Ada, MN and Brian (Kimberly) Biggers of West Fargo; two brothers, Terry (Marsha) Gullingsrud of Twin Valley, MN and Don (Barb) Gullingsrud of Surprise, AZ; a sister, Sharon Rasmussen of Maple Grove , MN; three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Paul.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 20th at 2:00 PM in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Officiating will be Pastor Norm Gullingsrud with special music provided by Pastor Norm and Lori Gullingsrud. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Drake Biggers, Jade Biggers, Anthony Baumgartner, Eli Biggers, Jacob Ingebretson, Austin Olson, Kristen Olson and Dustin Olson.
Inurnment will be in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery near Gary.
