Steven Donald Ogaard, 74, of Moorhead, MN, passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Steve was born June 7, 1952, in Ada, MN, to Don and Marlys (Fristrom) Ogaard. He grew up on the family farm, where he developed the strong work ethic that shaped his life working from a young age alongside his dad and brother. After graduating from Ada High School in 1970, he joined the Marine Corps and served for three years, earning an honorable discharge.

Upon returning home, Steve began a long career as a master carpenter. He eventually retired from Roers Construction in Moorhead as a Job Superintendent. He loved woodworking and never met a renovation he couldn't tackle. Helping family with their own home projects was a source of joy, always teaching them how to do things "the right way."

Family was everything to Steve. He had two sons, Josh and Cody, from his first marriage. In 1982, Steve married the love of his life, Becky, and he loved her so much he married her again in 2007. Becky's children, Tom, Nicole, and Katie, seamlessly became part of his family, and together they welcomed two more daughters, Julia and Amy. The seven children fondly remember piling into a station wagon for family trips, back seats folded down and a blanket on the floor. There were no "steps" or "halves" in this family. They were all his children, equally and completely.

The family moved to Moorhead in 1998. As their children grew and began families of their own, Steve and Becky opened their hearts and home to the expanding extended family. In 2018, Steve and Becky moved to their dream home on West Battle Lake, MN, where Steve served as the Pontoon Captain for weekend visitors. They returned to Moorhead in 2024 to be closer to the daily lives of their family, once again having their home serve as the hub of activity. Of all the titles he had, Steve's most cherished were Dad and Papa, and he never ended a conversation without saying "I love you."

The last decade brought significant health challenges. Steve was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2016 and again in 2021, followed by leukemia in 2024. Steve faced each diagnosis with courage and a positive attitude, resulting in remissions and defying the odds. Even in the toughest moments, Steve's loving heart and sense of humor carried the family. He was famous for being funny without even trying.

Steve is survived by his wife, Becky; his children, Josh (Shannon Berg) Ogaard of Bloomington, MN, Cody Ogaard of Harwood, ND, Nicole (Brady) Przymus of Moorhead, MN, Tom (Whitney Davidson) Bowman of Victoria, MN, Katie Bowman of Atlanta, GA, Julia (Keagan Haas) Segovia of Page, ND, and Amy (Josh Smith) Ogaard of Page, ND; his 12 grandchildren, Virginia, Kevin, Erika, Liberty, Landon, Jayden, India, Akiah, Akasha, Miles, Emma, Mason and two great-grandchildren, James and Beau; his sisters, Cathy (Dave) Gaboury of Fargo, ND, and Patty (Royal) Jaros of Lakeville, MN, as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce.

Steve leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family.
