Steve Heisler, age 54, of Bagley, MN, died on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fosston, MN.

Steven James Heisler was born July 10, 1961, the son of Phyllis (Fairbanks) and Warren "Jiggs" Heisler in Mahnomen, MN. He grew up in the White Earth, MN, area and graduated from Waubun High School in 1979. After graduation, Steve worked for White Earth Housing before attending Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena for plumbing. He then worked for Heisler Plumbing & Heating and LaDue Construction. In May of 1988, Steve married Lara Reitan and they were blessed with two daughters. They made their home in White Earth but later divorced. Steve moved to the Bagley area where he worked for Clarks Construction doing carpentry. After many years of friendship, Steve and Gloria Goodwin became a couple and have spent the last 18 years together.   Steve was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2014 and his health has declined since that time.

Some of Steve's favorite things included outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening, and extracting maple syrup. In his younger years, he enjoyed sports including basketball, football, softball and baseball. He played for the Detroit Lakes Angels for a few years.   He also loved spending time at their lake cabin fishing whenever he could.   Steve was a great cook and baker and enjoyed family gatherings with all the visiting, food and fun. He also won a few cooking contests. He cherished the time he spent with friends and family, especially those with his granddaughter, Adrianna.

Steve is survived by his significant other, Gloria Goodwin, Bagley; daughters, Jamie Heisler, Heather Heisler, both of Detroit Lakes, MN; step-son, Brandon (Jessica) Goodwin, Bagley; two grandchildren; four brothers: Warren Jr. (Jeanine), Verden, OK, Michael (Dawn), Ogema, Kenneth and Bradley (Julie), both of White Earth; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathy.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, White Earth.
