Stephen Oren, age 78, of New Brighton, MN passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Stephen Alfred Oren was born on September 8, 1939 to Walter and Arnolda (Matson) Oren in Ulen, MN. During the 1940's, Steve moved with his family to Felton, MN. He graduated with the Class of 1957 from Felton High School. He went on to attend Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. Steve joined the U.S. Army in 1961 as a medical specialist. After discharge from the U.S. Army in 1963, Steve worked for Tri County Electric in Carrington, ND and Durkee Atwood in Northeast Minneapolis before finishing his working career at Archer Daniels Midland company in the Twin Cities.

Steve was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching and listening to all sports games. He also liked to fish and spend time outdoors when he was able. Steve was a passionate reader who had a large collection of books. His playful spirit and tender smile will be greatly missed.

Steve is survived by his sister, Carol Schwalbe, St. Louis Park, MN; his brother, Tim Oren, Felton; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Arnolda Oren; his brother, Wade Oren; and his brother-in-law, Raivo Schwalbe.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm and will continue until 3:00pm at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Felton, MN. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at the Felton Cemetery, Felton, MN.
