Shirley Thronson, 94, Ada, MN, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Essentia Health in Ada, MN.

Shirley was born on March 11, 1928 in Waukon Township near Gary, MN. She was the sixth of 11 children to Melvin and Hildur (Bjerkley) Gunderson. Shirley attended rural school through 8 ^th grade, when she began working to help support her family by doing farm work and waitressing.

Shirley met the love of her life, Allen, in 1948 while he was filling silos on her family's farm. They married on December 21, 1952 and, in that marriage, welcomed five children.

She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, where she participated in Ladies Aid, Circle, taught Sunday School, and often helped out wherever she was needed.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to garden, bake, babysit, watch birds, clean house, socialize, pick up cans, camp, fish, and go boating. She was an excellent cook and baker; her specialties were anywhere from homemade macaroni and cheese to a full holiday spread to chocolate chip cookies. Most of all she loved her family and friends, always ensuring everyone was well-taken care of.

She is reunited in heaven with her son, Kelly; her parents; her siblings; Elaine, Melva, Adell, Ardis, Jewell, Donna, Melvin Jr (Bud), and Janice; her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Shirley is survived by husband, Allen; children, Bruce Thronson, Bryan Thronson, Lori Tuhy, and Dawn (Dale) Moore; grandchildren, Tony Kappes, DeAnn Hobbs, Jerod Kappes, Britney (Trevor) Haugh, Bryce Thronson, Amanda (Eric) Turner, and Justin Moore; siblings, Wayne (Phyllis) Gunderson and Beverly Williams; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, July 15, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
