Sherry Peterson, age 55, of Flom, MN, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 in her home.

Sherry Lynn Mattinen was born on June 9, 1962 to David and Arlene (Hella) Mattinen in Cloquet, MN. As a child she lived in Esko, MN until her family moved to a home on Tulaby Lake, near Waubun, MN. Sherry attended Waubun school for most of her education, relocating to Ada, MN, with her family during the last half of her senior year. She graduated from Ada High School in 1980 after which she attended the University of Minnesota in Crookston. Sherry married Scott Peterson, and the couple made their home in Pine River, MN, where Sherry owned a craft store. After the couple parted their ways, Sherry moved back to Northern Minnesota to be near family. While raising her two children, Dallas and Allison, Sherry worked for Loretel, in Ada, for many years. In 2009, Sherry moved to Texas where she operated a Papa Murphy's restaurant. A few years ago, she returned to Minnesota to make her home. Sherry was currently employed at EZ One Stop in Waubun. This was a career she truly loved as she enjoyed visiting with the local patrons who became her friends. Her sudden death will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sherry was a very talented artist who enjoyed crafts and woodworking. She was known to have a knack for interior design and adding her own personal touch to things. Sherry had a large heart and loved animals. Her home and her arms were always open for her dogs, cat, and other various animals.

Sherry is survived by her children, Dallas Peterson, Flom, MN, and Allison (Anthony) Cedeño, Oceanside, CA; her mother, Arlene Mattinen, Tulaby Lake, MN; two brothers, Greg Mattinen, Tulaby Lake, MN, and Ryan (Robin) Mattinen, San Antonio, TX; nieces, Emma and Sarah Mattinen; and nephew Jordan Franquero. She is preceded in death by her father, David Mattinen.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley, MN. A time of gathering will be one hour prior to the service.
