Sherman C. Larson of Burnsville, Minnesota, formerly Gary, Minnesota died on Wednesday June 15, 2011 in his home under the care of St. Jude's Hospice.

Sherman was born on November 26, 1920 to Oscar and Mandie (Benson) Larson. He spent all but the last eighteen months of his life in Gary, Minnesota with his wife, Kathryn (Sundet) Larson. Sherman graduated from Gary High School and attended Moorhead State College until returning to Gary to begin farming. Sherman and Kathryn were high school sweethearts and were married on June 26, 1943. They had four children; Virginia of Eagan, Patricia of Federal Way Washington, Mark of Moorhead and Kristi of Bemidji. Sherman and Kathryn farmed in Norman County until 1975 and were dedicated to the animals and the crops on their diversified farm. They continued to live on their farm in Waukon Township where they were avid gardeners. Sherman's favorite pastimes were flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards, dancing and a love of music and movies. He especially enjoyed traveling and the trips to Norway to meet relatives. Sherman was a lifelong member of Sundal Lutheran Church.

Sherman is survived by his wife Kathryn of Burnsville, children, Virginia Kirgiss and her three children Reid, Renae and Rochelle, Patricia Roragen and her two children Veronica and Patrick; Mark (Kristin) and his two children Taidge and Sarah and Kristi (Tom) Reise and their two children Kathryn and Mitchell; great-grandchildren Roarke Roragen and Melanie and Noah Marstiner; sister, Grace Ginn of Santa Rosa California, niece Gayle Pierce and great nephew Chris and great-niece Juliann and special family friend, Steven Lee. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles, and brother-in-law, Harry Ginn and son-in-law, Eldon Kirgiss.

A Celebration of Sherman's life was at Sundal Lutheran Church of Fertile, Minnesota on Friday, June 24 at 11:00. Officiating was Pastor John Ahola.
