Obituary

Sharon Bisek, age 70, of Mahnomen, MN, died Friday, May 1, 2020 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo. ND.

On December 16, 1949, Sharon was born to Harold and Beatrice Kemper of Waubun, MN.  She graduated from Waubun High School in 1967, and briefly attended Bemidji State University, before returning to her hometown.

While working at the Mahnomen Elevator, Sharon met Eugene "Gene" Bisek of Mahnomen where he worked at the service station across the street.  A highlight of their early relationship was Saturday night trips to the Rancho Club, where the couple loved spending the evenings dancing and visiting with friends.

Sharon and Gene were united in holy matrimony on June 19, 1971.  During the early part of their  marriage, they lived on the Fort Riley Military Base in Kansas while Gene served in the U.S. Army.  It was there that they welcomed their first child, Lisa.

In 1976, after Gene's honorable discharge from the Army, the couple returned to Mahnomen and took over operating the Bisek Family Dairy Farm. There, they welcomed their second daughter, Jill and son, Kelly, a few years later.

An active and jovial member of the community, Sharon supported local youth through her job at the MN Extension Service and volunteering with groups like 4-H.  Sharon also loved reading, crafting, and sewing; hobbies she enjoyed sharing with her children and grandchildren.

Above all, Sharon was most passionate about her family and faith. She identified and nurtured the talents of her children and grandchildren, always quick to boast of their accomplishments. Sharon was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Parish in Mahnomen, serving as the parish bookkeeper for several years.  She was also a strong supporter of St. Michael's Catholic School, where all her children and several of her grandchildren attended elementary school.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Gene; daughters, Lisa and partner, Daniel of Henderson, NV, and Jill and partner, Jeff of Mahnomen; son, Kelly (Sherry) of Hawley MN; grandchildren: Zachary, Jack, Bridget, Brandon, Bennett, and Katherine; her siblings: Joanne (Larry) VanderPlaats, Vern (Jeannie) Kemper, Rick (Kelley) Kemper, Marilyn Kemper, Curt (Tanya) Kemper, and Keith Kemper; Godmother, Dora Kemper; many wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law from her Bisek family, precious Godchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Beatrice Kemper; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Pat Bisek; brother-in-law, Joe Bisek and wife, Pam.

In the honor of Sharon's memory, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Michael's Catholic School, in lieu of gifts or flowers.
