Scott A. Blue, age 47, of Minneapolis, MN, died Monday, May 25, 2015, at his home after years of health issues.
Scott Allen Blue, the son of Marilyn Wharton and Sidney LaVoy, was born May 16, 1968, in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in the Minneapolis area and attended school there. As a teenager, Scott was active in both football and wrestling at Centennial High School. Following his high school graduation in 1986, Scott attended Vocational School in Detroit Lakes, MN, where he earned his degree in Marine Engine Technology. Scott later returned to Minneapolis to make his home. Scott had a wonderfully laid back attitude and was an easy person to be around. He lovingly shared his life with Mary Blanchard, his companion and caretaker, for the past several years. Scott also had a very tender life-long relationship with his mother, Marilyn. Her recent death changed his life dramatically. Scott enjoyed music of all types and spent hours listening to different bands. He also enjoyed going to the casino when able.
Scott is survived by his girlfriend, Mary of Minneapolis; his father, Sidney LaVoy of Stone Lake, WI; his paternal grandmother, Gerta LaVoy of Naytahwaush, MN; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his maternal grandparents, and his paternal grandfather.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN, led by Rev. Doyle Turner. Inurnment will take place at Free Gospel Cemetery in Naytahwaush.
