Sasha "Sassy" Burnette, age 36, of Naytahwaush, MN, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Sasha Renee Burnette, the daughter of James and Carmen (Brown) Brunette, was born October 1, 1980, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Growing up in Naytahwaush, she attended elementary school in Naytahwaush followed by Mahnomen Public and Circle of Life Schools before leaving for the Job Corp in 1996. In 1997, Sasha moved back to Naytahwaush and dedicated part of her life to helping to take care of her nieces and nephews. Sasha would meet the love of her life in 2003, Richard Thompson, and together they had three children. The death of Rick T, in 2010, devastated Sasha but she pressed on for her children. In 2016, Sasha and Todd Boe, were blessed with a precious set of twin girls. Recently, Sasha was spending time between the communities of Rice Lake, Bemidji and Bagley, where she was able to draw extra support from Debbie and Roger. Over the years, Sasha faced many hardships and struggles, usually overcoming them, however proving to be too much this time for her broken heart. She will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved her. Sasha enjoyed crocheting, bead work, sweats and going to the casino. However, the light of her life were her children. She was family oriented and known to be very protective of them all. You could always count on her to be there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Sasha is survived by her children: Kendell Thompson, Harrison Thompson, Irene "Chabebe" Thompson, Shakia Randberg and Shania Randberg; brothers: James Burnette Jr. (Amanda Alger), Simon Burnette, George Burnette (Beth Hill), all of Naytahwaush, MN; sisters: Shari (Kevin Durant) Burnette of Naytahwaush, MN, Effie Burnette of Minneapolis, MN, Jamie Sargent of Shakopee, MN, and Melanie Sargent of Mahnomen, MN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Carmen Brunette; grandparents: Bill Brown and Simon and Effie Brunette; uncle, Mike Brown; the love of her life, Richard "Rick T" Thompson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
