Sandra "Sandy" Blazek, 62, of Waubun, MN, formerly of Hunter, ND, died Thursday, November 08, 2007 in her home.

Sandy was born May 9, 1945, in Minot, ND, the oldest daughter of Rueben and Viola (Williams) Halvorson. She grew up and attended school in Mohall, ND. On February 23, 1963, Sandy was united in marriage to Ronald J. Blazek. Ron?s employment took the couple to various places in ND, MN, and MT before they settled in Hunter, ND, in 1968. Ron and Sandy were blessed with two sons, Brian and Dale. Over the years, the family enjoyed spending time at their place near Tulaby Lake, east of Waubun. They owned and operated Blazek Construction in Hunter until Ron?s death in February of 2002. Following his death, Sandy continued to live in Hunter until 2004 when she made her permanent residence east of Waubun.

While living in Hunter, Sandy was a member of St. Agnes Parish and its ladies aid. She belonged to the Booster Club, Homemakers Club and was an EMT for many years. Upon residing near Waubun, Sandy would often attend mass at St. Francis of Cabrini in Elbow Lake Village. She enjoyed being outdoors and life at the lake, reading and visiting with friends. Sandy also enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and canning. Being the excellent marksman she was, she always loved a good hunt in the fall.

Sandy is survived by her mother, Viola Halvorson of Mohall; two sons: Brian (Johannah) of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dale of Waubun; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Alicia (Michael) Hanson and their children, Memphis and Ryker; Preston (Kathryn), and Devon and his son, Michael; and three sisters: Denese Prestegard of Savage, MN, Deborah (John) Worthington of Vista, CA, and Sherry (Larry) Anderson of Isanti, MN. In addition to her husband, Ron, Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Rueben.
