Samantha Mortenson, age 32, of Waubun, MN, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at her home.

Samantha Kay Mortenson was born on June 6, 1990, in West Chester, PA, to Bruce and Sandra (Warren) Mortenson. When Samantha was 4, the family moved to the Waubun area where she attended school. While in school, Samantha was a huge Waubun Bombers fan, frequently attending sporting events to cheer on her friends. She also enjoyed a close-up trip to Washington, D.C., with her classmates. Samantha proudly graduated from Waubun High School with the class of 2009.

Samantha had a large personality and made friends wherever she went. She loved to be the center of attention and was loved for her great sense of humor and positive attitude. Samantha was always faithful to her friends and family and had a thoughtful, caring heart. Many memories were made on trips to Las Vegas, the Black Hills, Disney World, Arizona, and the casino with her parents and siblings. In the summer, she loved going fishing and riding her golf cart and 4-wheeler. Samantha was not a "girly-girl" as she hated pink and dolls growing up. She was a talented gamer who loved playing Nintendo and Xbox and watching her beloved WWE Wrestling. She was also a big fan of Rockstar Energy drinks. Samantha loved being social, attending bar bingo, and cheering on her friend's children at sporting events. She was a beautiful spirit, inside and out, and will be greatly missed by all the lives she has touched.

Samantha is survived by her parents, Bruce Mortenson of Waubun and Sandra Kier of Ogema, MN; siblings, Billie Jo (Jim) Holmer of Audubon, MN, Scott (Amanda) Warren of Naytahwaush, MN, Wesley "Pete" Warren of Naytahwaush, Bruce "Chief" (Rachel) Mortenson of Waubun, and Preston Kier of Ogema; special friend, Tiffany (Rick Smith) Swiers; beloved furry companion, Pie; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Samantha was preceded by her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 5:00- 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Home. Lunch and fellowship will be held at the Waubun Community Center immediately following the funeral service on Thursday.
