Ryan "Otis" Lyndell Johnson, 49, Fertile, MN, beloved dad, son, uncle, and brother died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Ryan entered this world on August 3, 1973, in Ada, MN to parents Maynard and Sheryl (Masche) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Varnes Lutheran Church rural Fertile, MN. Ryan graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1992. After graduation Ryan worked for Altendorf Express Trucking in Minto, ND and Cenex in Fertile and Beltrami, MN. Ryan's love of farming started as a child helping on the family farm. He worked for various farmers throughout the years. Grain and beet harvest was a favorite time of year for Ryan. He had many debates over red vs. green farm equipment with red always winning.

On September 24, 1997, a son was born, Tyler Wayne, later joined by Griffin Lyndell on November 4, 2002, and then Brylee Ann on January 21, 2005. Ryan was a very proud dad and loved to spend time with his family.

Ryan was a very generous person, always willing to help wherever needed. He loved to joke and had a great sense of humor. He loved to tease his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the outdoors, driving around to check crops, fishing, and faithfully reading The Fertile Journal front to back, especially the "Remember When" section. Ryan was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, NDSU Bison, and George Strait.

He is survived by his parents, Maynard and Sheryl Johnson, Mentor, MN; significant other, DeAnn Lien, Barnesville, MN; sons, Tyler Johnson, Grand Forks, ND, and Griffin Johnson, Crookston, MN; daughter, Brylee Johnson, Rochester, MN; brother, Jamie (Tracy) Johnson, Mentor, MN and their children Caidyn, Teegyn, and Aubryn; and sister, Brook (Mark) Simonson, McIntosh, MN and children Austin, Logan, Olivia, Zachary Simonson, and Noah Roragen.

Ryan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Hilda Johnson, Norman Masche, and Helen Anderson.

Funeral: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Maple Lake Lutheran Church, Rural Fertile, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.

Interment: Varnes Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Fertile, MN.
