Ruth Melting, 88, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Halstad, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Lincoln Park Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes surrounded by family.
Ruth (Nelson) Melting was born on May 14, 1933 to Nikolai and Carrie (Stuhaug) Nelson on the farm near Lockhart, MN. As a young child, Ruth would help with chores on the family farm. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Good Hope Township through the eighth grade.
On January 27. 1951, Ruth was united in marriage to Carlton Melting at the Shelly church parsonage in Shelly, MN.
Ruth was many things, a devoted mother, sister, daughter, friend, and also, a loving wife. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her one true love, Carlton. It was love at first sight and that love was eternal and lives through each of her children. Her memory lives on in the family she created with love, and devotion. All her family and friends have so many memories with her playing games, cooking, laughing, loving and so many wonderful things. She had a smile and a personality that could light up the darkest of times. As each of us see the sun and the birds and feel the breeze on our faces we will think of the warrior she was. She will be deeply missed. Ruth's loving family would like to extend a thank you to all who supported her and her family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Susann (Jerome) Ramstad-Triepke, Fargo, ND, Stewart (Tom), Dilworth, MN, Cynthia Ess, Detroit Lakes, MN, Katharine Austin, Eau Claire, WI, Laurie (Ted) Anderson, Audubon, MN, and Barbara (David) Aasland, Becida, MN; her beloved 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton; parents, Nikolai and Carrie; son, Terry; brothers, Oscar (Hilda), Clifford (Lorraine), Garfield (Ruth), Stanley (Helen), Nels "Billy", and Kenneth (Darlene); sisters, Menda (Conrad), Lilly (Irvin), Myrtle (Charles), Mable (Howard), and Delores (Bob); and daughter in law, Elizabeth.
