Ruth Larson, age 54 of Bagley, MN, died on Monday, June 23, 2008 at her home under the care of Clearwater County Hospice and Nursing Service.

Ruth Marie Hamlin was born on August 11, 1953 in Mahnomen, MN, to Solomon Jr. and Dorothy (Aynewaush) Hamlin. Growing up, she attended school in Fosston, MN. As a young lady, Ruth moved to California and furthered her education with a diploma from a Business College in Long Beach. While living in California, Ruth was united in marriage to John Nelson and to their union came one son, Christopher.

In 1993, Ruth moved back to the Bagley area where she has since lived. During that time, she was employed by various companies in the area. In 2006, Ruth was diagnosed with cancer and her declining health forced her to retire. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, fishing, canning and baking. Ruth's true love however were her grandchildren – her generous and giving spirit will live on in all of them.

Surviving Ruth is her son, Christopher (Kristie) Nelson and their children: Shelby, Rachel, Seth and Kaitlyn, all of East Grand Forks, MN; significant other, Thomas Ysen of Bagley; two brothers, Rocky (Becky) Hamlin, Lengby, MN and Charles Hamlin, Erskine, MN; four sisters: Rosella Sovick, Warroad, MN, Beverly Hamlin and Kent Midbo, Bagley, MN, Laura Spicer, Rock Rapids, IA, and Georgette (David) Christensen, Apple Valley, MN; and special family members: Uncle George Annewaush, Barkha Ysen, Shawn Ysen, Todd Ysen and Aaron Ysen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Olive Folstrom.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson ~ Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Anderson ~ Mattson Funeral Home.
